abstract

objective herpes simplex virus (hsv), one of the most common sexually transmitted disease is a worldwide .this study aimed to prevalence of herpes simplex virus of pregnancy in iran. methods: we searched pubmed, scopus, ovid, science direct and national databases were searched: magiran, iranmedex and science information database (sid) up to october 2015.eventually, we included five studies that involved 1140 participants. results: overall prevalence of herpes simplex virus of pregnancy was 64% (95% ci: 0.10-1.18).prevalence in studies contained both types 1 & 2, 91% (ci: 081-1.02) and studies only type 2, prevalence 23% (ci: -0.61-0.63) respectively. conclusion: the prevalence herpes simplex virus of pregnancy in iran was higher. anyway the screening for finding infection in pregnant women can play an important role in the prevention and treatment the patients and prevent of transmission to infants in iran.
